Hiring a New Employee
How to Onboard a New Employee
Hiring a new employee can be an exciting journey – and we want to help you onboard your employee as efficiently as possible. We recommend employee self-onboarding through Gusto and will outline the steps below.
STEP 1: Send an email to your Client Manager with the following information:
- Employee Name
- Job Title
- Hire Date
- Pay Rate
- Housing Allowance (if applicable)
- Personal email address
It is better to use a personal email address for Gusto than a work email so the employee will retain access to pay stubs and other records upon termination.
STEP 2: Collect the employee’s work verification documents. This can be either a US Passport OR a copy of both their driver’s license (or state issued identification) and their Social Security Card. Upload these files securely to your client manager. The “Upload a secure file” link can also be found in our team’s email signatures.
STEP 3: Notify your team member to watch for an email from Gusto to complete their onboarding details. Pro tip: Provide the link to the employee to have them upload their work verification docs straight to us for a more secure experience.
Our team will initiate the employee onboarding email through Gusto and complete the I-9 verification using the documents you upload.
Alternate Method
If you prefer to collect paperwork during onboarding, the documents employees need to submit can be found below:
Once the employee submits these forms, you can upload them securely here.
